Brittany Ferries: Portsmouth to Caen is 6 hours. Driving time to Des Ormes is approx. 90 minutes. Portsmouth to St Malo is 9 hours on an overnight ferry. Cabins is a must and they will cost extra. Driving to to Des Ormes is only 20 minutes. Other services to consider are Poole-Cherbourg and Plymouth to Roscoff.
