La Foret golf course

La Foret golf course has had some alterations in 2004. Once these have matured the management hope that the profile of the course will increase, and that then the course can be looked upon on par with the famous La Mer course at Le Touquet.

The alterations are mainly shaped around the back nine, and hole 13 has been extended to a very long Par 4, and hole 15 is completely new. Given time, the new Par 3 15th is La Foret's best hole and resembles some of the splendid Par 3s at the famous neighboring Pines course in Hardelot.

COURSE REVIEW

Hole 1 is a Par 5 and 445 metres (White Tees) and is SI 9
A Par 5 to start with that encourages you to 'go for it'! Go slightly left as there are bunkers awaiting you, not to far left as the Foret there is deep. Tricky green once you reach it! Par 5 for me, ha!

Hole 2 is a Par 4 and 296 metres (White Tees) and is SI 7
A tight dog leg hole to the left. Take maybe a 'chicken stick' (iron) off the tee for safety. There is a dry stream around the corner, under the trees near the green. This needs to be avoided. Bogey 5 for me.

Hole 3 is a Par 3 and 191 metres (White Tees) and is SI 5
A very long, exposed Par 3 and with SI 5. This tells you that it demands respect. If it's windy then just hit it low and hope. There are some dangerously deep bunkers that protect the green. Double bogey 5 for me, ha!

Hole 4 is a Par 4 and 325 metres (White Tees) and is SI 13
Drive over the trees in the middle of the fairway. This is off putting and if you manage it beware the deep bunker on the right. There are three tricky bunkers that protect this difficult green. Can you believe it! A triple bogey 7 for me.

Hole 5 is a Par 4 and 336 metres (White Tees) and is SI 3
This is a good looking hole that needs a dead straight drive. Once achieved avoid the deep bunker on the left of the green. This green is very undulating and you could 3/4 putt on it. Bogey 5 for me!

Hole 6 is a Par 5 and 472 metres (White Tees) and is SI 11
You drive over a small stream that should only worry those who are prone to 'shanking'. The fairway is very wide and turns to the left. Greenside you will find a bunker just on the right side. Three putted for 7.

Hole 7 is a Par 3 and 158 metres (White Tees) and is SI 15
The green is shrouded in trees and protected by a steep faced bunker right in front. I hit a 'Sally Gunnel' through the bunker for a par.

Hole 8 is a Par 4 and 351 metres (White Tees) and is SI 1
Hit your drive right of the fairway to have any chance of hitting the green in two. Don't hit your approach left as there is the forest! Big bunkers await you at the green. Worthy S.I. 1.! Good bogey.

Hole 9 is a Par 4 and 311 metres (White Tees) and is SI 17
Again a wide fairway! Play to the right as the big, old tree on the left will block out you approach shot. Par for me.

Hole 10 is a Par 3 and 148 metres (White Tees) and is SI 16
You have to drive over the trees to this round green. Play safe? Then aim right. Another Par.

Hole 11 is a Par 5 and 456 metres (White Tees) and is SI 14
You drive between the forest into a wide open fairway. The green is shrouded and swallowed up by the forest and the approach shot needs to be very accurate. You must take enough club! Three Pars in a row now.

Hole 12 is a Par 4 and 379 metres (White Tees) and is SI 8
The drive is very tight and needs to be accurate. This big, round green is unprotected and open to the elements. Again, take enough club!
Double bogey.

Hole 13 is a Par 4 and 421 metres (White Tees) and is SI 6
This hole is one that they have interfered with and your aim should be towards the old green on the right. A long Par 4 that needs two goods shots to make par. Bad triple bogey.

Hole 14 is a Par 5 and 479 metres (White Tees) and is SI 10
This is a long Par 5 that is fairly tight. The hole dog legs right towards the green which is probably the trickiest on the course. The narrow approach shot needed is made harder by a serious of bunkers that surround the green.

Hole 15 is a Par 3 and 153 metres (White Tees) and is SI 18
The new hole! Very mature looking for a new hole and the green is cloaked by the Foret. A long iron is need form the whites.

Hole 16 is a Par 4 and 360 metres (White Tees) and is SI 2
The feature of this hole is the two 'Panic' bunkers staring at you about 160yards from the tee. A stream awaits anything that is looses on the right. The small green does not have much protection. Double bogey.

Hole 17 is a Par 3 and 158 metres (White Tees) and is SI 12
A contender for 'nearest the pin'! As you look down from this elevated tee you can see the whole green. Nice hole! Not nice double bogey.

Hole 18 is a Par 4 and 382 metres (White Tees) and is SI 14
Dog leg left! Don't be afraid to drive over the corner of the trees to cut the corner. Once achieved then the approach shot is nice and easy.
Again another double bogey.

Out 46, In 48, Gross 84, Net 78.
