Course Review

After visiting and playing Champ de Bataille on the 2nd August 2004 it is now clear that with the two new holes this course is even better than it was previously.

The new Champ de Bataille Golf Course winds its way through the woods of the nearby Chateau, and follows the natural flow of the valleys and crosses the various lakes. The course covers 60 hectares, and its layout blends with the centuries-old trees together with the undergrowth which is overflowing with fern and huge clusters of rhododendrons. Built in 1990, it is the work of the American architect Robin Nelson and of the French landscape gardener Thierry Huau who were both determined to preserve the area's natural beauty.

The Clubhouse is very spacious, and most importantly fresh and clean to keep you feeling cool on those baking hot days. The clubhouse offers a wide range of facilities such as a pro shop, bar, separate sitting room with fireplace, a tourist and a golfer's menu, a terrace overlooking the practice area, a meeting room, changing rooms and a room for golf clubs and carts storage.

The two new holes were made after the previous 1st and 18th ran along the grounds of the Chateau which has now been bought off a famous French interior designer who now has forced the club to move the two holes out of view of the chateau.

Situated in the historic centre of Normandy, with Paris, Caen, Dieppe or Deauville 90 minutes away, the Champ de Bataille is a lively and welcoming golf club with a challenging course winding through a protected forest.
