Les Pins Golf Course - Course Review
5956 metres from the white tees. Par 73
Hole 1 is a Par 5 at 475 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.6
The opening hole at The Pines course at Hardelot is a very straight long
Par 5 but not easy. A huge bunker stretches along the middle of the fairway
just about driving distance. Once negotiate then the undulating green
is made very difficult by the heavy bunker on the front right had side.
Hole 2 is a Par 5 at 454 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.13
Although not as long as its predecessor this par is equally difficult
as the fairway narrows to almost nothing half up. The green sits nicely
surrounded by pine trees and has a nice flat putting surface.
Hole 3 is a Par 4 at 340 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.9
An elevated tee for this dog leg left. The pine trees now get a little
thicker so stay straight and you can make par.
Hole 4 is a Par 4 at 360 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.7
Again an elevated tee shot on this par 4. The hole is nice and straight
but do not wander right as the trees will swallow your ball.
Hole 5 is a Par 3 at 127 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.16
The first par 3 at the Pines course in Hardelot looks easy. However, fail
to make the green and you will struggle to score. Bunkers wrap around
almost the hole of the green and over hanging trees add to the danger.
Hole 6 is a Par 5 at 460 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.2
A very tight drive on this Par 5 but a long and straight drive will give
you a birdie or maybe an eagle chance. Again, stay out of the trees and
concentrate on the tight approach shot.
Hole 7 is a Par 3 at 117 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.18
The shortest and easiest hole on the course but still treat it with respect
as you need to make the green to have any chance of a par or birdie.
Hole 8 is a Par 4 at 315 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.12
The tightest drive on the course as you have to negotiate your ball between
two very high dunes. Once you make the fairway you will find an elevate
green. Don’t leave your approach shot short as the green will be
difficult to chip onto.
Hole 9 is a Par 4 at 375 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.4
This par 4 requires a drive over the large dune towards the marker post.
Don’t be too forceful though as you may put any long drive into
the distance pine forest. The green is again elevated and sits very close
to the aforementioned pine forest.
Hole 10 is a Par 5 at 485 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.8
This dog leg right par 5 is fairly long and needs to be played correctly.
Marshall you way on the fairway to the green and you will be okay. Stray
off the fairway at any point and a par is impossible.
Hole 11 is a Par 4 at 265 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.10
A short par 4 that is NOT reachable in one. The trees gaud the green and
you are advised to play as wide to the right as possible without straying
into the pines. The green is then high on a plateau so club selection
is very important on your approach shot.
Hole 12 is a Par 3 at 157 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.10
A long downhill par 3. The green is protected by a series of bunkers that
some are very difficult to get out of. Stray off the green and you are
in trouble as the rough is usually left to grow very long.
Hole 13 is a Par 5 at 525 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.1
Upon first glance of this very flat, straight and long par five you wonder
why it is ranked as stroke index 1. As you approach the green you are
reassured by the small lake on the right and the various hanging trees
on the left. A very large putting surface so expect some long putts.
Hole 14 is a Par 3 at 138 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.15
Another Par 3 with a hint of difficulty. The green is oddly shaped and
very undulating. Bunkers on three sides help to defend the green.
Hole 15 is a Par 4 at 330 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.5
A very difficult hole. From the elevated tee you must hit your tee shot
wide left to give you any chance of seeing the green. The small pine forest
to the right is a nightmare if you stray into it. There is also a bunker
on the same side which is equally difficult to find a route out off. The
green is elevated and surrounded by thick bushes.
Hole 16 is a Par 5 at 440 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.11
The sixth par 5, yes 6. Again, it’s nice and flat with a wide fairway.
The trouble comes on the elevated green. Miss it and you are sure to card
at least a bogey.
Hole 17 is a Par 3 at 168 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.14
The final par 3 is the hardest. A very tight tee shot is needed to make
this difficult green. Miss either side or too short or long and you wont
make par.
Hole 18 is a Par 4 at 425 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.3
The final hole on the Pines course at Hardelot Golf club will have you
drooling! You can see the club house in the distance from the elevated
tee as the hole drops away towards the green. The fairway is very undulating
and will make for a difficult approach shot with awkward feet positions.
Concentrate whilst putting as there are many folks watching already enjoying
their well earned pint of beer.
