EVIAN ROYAL PALACE
EVIAN ROYAL PALACE is set between lake and mountains a little bit of
paradise for moments to truly re-charge, surpass and relax yourself, as
you wish generous views of the beauty of the park and lake. Jaulmes’
frescoes, attentive service and a wide range of activities make it a resort
unlike any other.
“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HOTEL IN THE WORLD”
Overlooking Lake Geneva, the Evian Royal Palace was built between 1906
and 1908 by the architect Jean-Albert Hébrard. The silhouette of
the Evian Royal Palace can be likened to a fan, a feature that enables
it to blend perfectly into its setting at the heart of magnificent 42-acre
grounds. It is like a huge white steam ship anchored in the hills of Lake
Geneva. This large ship is inspired by Baroque traditions evident in the
vaulted ceilings, domes and rotundas. Semicircular balconies and detailed
framework by workers from Tyrol contrast with the simplicity of the façade.
Splendour and understated elegance are the golden rules of this edifice.
LUXURY AND REFINEMENT
Two artists, Mr. Jaulmes and Mr. Karbowsky were responsible for decorating
the series of interlinking lounges and reception rooms. Their work is
in keeping with the original design, highlighting and enhancing it. The
overall effect is very bright and cheerful with the light shades of colours
perfectly suited to the surroundings.
The frescoes reflect grandeur, light and elegance. The theme is idyllic
with gold and blue coloured arabesques that interlace with garlands of
fruit and flowers to trick the eye. Walls are transformed into trees and
the lounges into sumptuous gardens with flowing waterfalls. All the furniture
was designed specially for the hotel by the luxury English decorators
and constructed out of the rarest wood including rosewood, Cuban mahogany,
lemon tree from Ceylon, oak and ash. The frescoes and furniture are still
at the Royal today and retain all their former
splendour.
