Chateau des Vigiers4 Star Accommodation Location: Bordeaux Chateau des Vigiers is situated in South West France, an hour's drive East of Bordeaux in the Dordogne. The area is renowned for its outstanding beauty, history and cultural heritage, as well as its superior wines and culinary delights. The Chateau offers a tranquil, "back to nature" setting ideal for relaxation. The multilingual staff are delighted to organise visits to sample the produce at the AOC vineyards of Bordeaux and Bergerac, or enjoy the many local markets, where you can buy local specialities such as truffles, cèpes, and foie gras. All of the 47 rooms are individually decorated, fully air conditioned and maintained to the highest four star standards. Rooms are situated either in the Château, in the "Dépendances" or in the "Résidences du Lac". The Chateau des Vigiers operates a no smoking policy. In May 2008 the Chateau will open the "Relais du Vigiers" a new 4 star hotel with 40 rooms, ideal for families, golfers and corporate guests. All our rooms have wireless broadband Internet access. The Dordogne region is famed for it's superb gastronomy and produces some of the world's finest wines and foods such as Foie Gras, Duck and Truffles. You can sample the local delicacies at one or both of the hotels restaurants at Château des Vigiers. "Les Fresques" is situated in the 16th Century château and offers a sophisticated dining experience and has an extensive wine-list. The brasserie "Le Chai", open for lunch and dinner, is more informal where you can try local dishes as well as lighter snacks and meals. Other facilities in the Château include bridge and tea salons and a billiards room with a full size snooker table. Donald Steel, considered to be one of the very best "natural" golf course architects, created the unique 27 hole on site golf course in its enthralling setting amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards. Donald, who has contributed to many world-famous courses such as the Jubilee and Eden courses at St. Andrews as well as Chantilly in France, designed the course with the Château as its centrepiece; the 9th and 18th finishing off in front of the Château; and many of the other undulating greens with different perspectives of the Château. All in all, this is definitely the place for golfers and non golfers alike to unwind in a stress free, unspoilt and temperate environment.
